Week 6 Update

Work Team 1

Whew! It has been a whirlwind of activity! Saturday, Mary Ellen, John, Harold and Liz came to pick up Shawn who had been staying with me the past week. Shawn is Mary Ellen and John’s 21 year old son. When they came to get him they brought a trailer and some equipment to help get up and haul off leftover debris from years of discarded construction materials. It looks absolutely amazing! More to come, but getting the singles and some of the stumps up was a huge help!

The well is worse off than thought. The main pipe to the house is corroded and will need to be reworked. Quite possibly the wire running to the pump house is bad as well. I’m working hard to get this off the list so that people can come and stay. I’m thankful for knowledgeable friends and tradesmen who are helping me chip away at this expanding project. I am certainly out of my wheelhouse.

Shawn was a huge help this past week! I had a rush job I was working on when he arrived. He helped me fulfill a rather large order of outlet and light switch plates. We had to sand and finish each one. A friend and CAD Designer, Stacey Hummel, designed two custom light switch plates for that order. It was an exciting job for me, because I got to use two very talented and creative people to help fulfill it. That is what this place is all supposed to be for many. Fresh and collaborative opportunities. Our talents and team work made the dream work.

Shawn also cleared and chopped up some of the undergrowth and thinned out some trees. He found an old creek bed paved with old sandstone pavers tucked back in the woods. Quant little spot for a little tiny house. Shawn is quite the chef! I was blessed to have someone who knows how to and who enjoys cooking to be here!

There have been some larger jobs coming in taking up a lot of my time. I am not complaining! I’ll take all the work I can get! I don’t want people to think I’ve stopped pursuing, because I haven’t. This past week I was able to get a glimpse of how this creative mission organization could work. It was full of insight and hope.

Thank you Mary Ellen, John, Shawn, Harold and Liz for taking your Saturday (and Shawn - your week) to come help with this old home and to help further the vision with your expertise and hard work. I truly appreciate you all!

I would like to thank each one reading this for their encouragement, support and prayers. Please continue to pray for His will and continued direction. Be well and safe! Thank you,

Elizabeth
