Our Mission and Vision

Mission Restoration is a property that had been winterized since 2016 and was being reclaimed by the Sumter National Forest in Newberry County, South Carolina. This 1.78-acre property includes a small home constructed in the 1940s, which is in need of major restoration. My desire is to utilize this serene retreat in nature to create a space where a few come at a time to regain their confidence through creative and ever-evolving opportunities.  However, Mission Restoration is more than just restoring the home and property; it is also about restoring our spirits. Here, we will work alongside the tranquility of nature while engaging in the physical restoration of the land and home. Each application of our efforts aims to foster a sense of healthy pride and confidence that individuals may have been lacking, helping them take the next step in their lives. There is a therapist out of Columbia willing to give free sessions to anyone who comes for a short stay at the Mission.  The go...

Turn from Man Return to the Father

I’ve met an Ohio couple here in Newberry County. They lived not far from where my grandparents lived. Us yanks got to stick together. They are actually the first people I got to meet when I got here. They’ve invited me to church multiple times, after explaining my hesitation they were instantly more gentle and understanding in their invitations. Not all Christians have been. My favorite is, “God didn’t do that…” Yup, I know now. I’m blessed to have made it out of the darkness to have learned that. See,  others hurt by the church may not have that understanding yet, and that’s why I’m here. Last week they invited me to their Church Christmas Party. I felt able and more than willing. The people were amazing. Laughter, games, and good food/fellowship. I got to briefly speak with the minister and his wife, former missionaries in Africa. I look forward to sitting down with them when they return from their Christmas travels. I believe their experience...
